**Nachum Kligman [00:00:31]:**
What is up, bosses? My name is Nachum Kligman, and I am the host of Boss.fm, a new podcast that is here to teach service providers how to book more business like a boss. I'm grateful for the opportunity. And in the coming weeks, months, and years, we'll be hosting many interviews with top people, top service providers that have shown success and want to share their success with you. We'll be interviewing industry experts. We'll be interviewing lots of people who can help you grow your service-based business. Everybody likes good origin stories. I'll tell you mine and how we got here. I'm the cofounder and CEO of Book Like a Boss, which is a software company that was built to help service providers book more business like a boss.
**Nachum Kligman [00:01:20]:**
And I started this company with my cofounder, Dovid Yudkowitz, about ten years ago, and it's been an incredible ride. We've helped book millions of bookings for service providers all around the world, literally over a hundred countries, 23 different currencies, six different languages, more coming. And it's been an absolutely amazing and incredible ride. But the question is, how did I come up with this idea? And how do I go from a service provider to actually, a software company starter or founder? And so, what happened, I was actually a podcaster before I started Book Like a Boss. I was an author. I wrote a book.
**Nachum Kligman [00:02:03]:**
And because of the success of my book and my podcast, I had many people that were reaching out to me and asking me if they could take me out for a cup of coffee, buy me some lunch. And even though I loved helping people, I was doing coaching, and I was charging for my time. And so there was a lot of waste of time back and forth. When someone said, “Hey. Can I take you out for a cup of coffee?” I'd say, “Sure. But just know that I charge for my time.” “Oh, how much do you charge?” I said, “You know, $250 an hour.” “Oh, wow. What does that include? Can you tell me more about you?” Right.
**Nachum Kligman [00:02:33]:**
When it's a free cup of coffee, no problem. When all of a sudden I charge for my time, then all of a sudden they want to know more details. And I found this happening a lot. And I said, I wish there was a way that when someone first reaches out to me and says, “Hey. Can we meet?” I could say, sure, and send them one link. And when you go to this one link, it'll have more information about me. It'll have maybe a welcoming video. It'll have about me text.
**Nachum Kligman [00:02:56]:**
It'll have testimonials. And because they know what questions people are going to ask, it'll have frequently asked questions. And of course, it'll have all the different services that I provide, whether it's one-on-one coaching sessions or maybe speaking at your event, etcetera. And everything will be laid out in a beautiful one-page format. That way they could learn more about me, get all their questions answered. And then if they're serious about booking me, they could book me and pay for it upfront. I don't have to go chase anybody for money. And that way I could see how serious people are when they, you know, want to meet.
**Nachum Kligman [00:03:29]:**
And so nothing really existed out there. Again, this is going back to February, 02/2015. Wow. I can't believe it's been ten years already. And, yeah, going back in 02/2015, and I decided I'd try to build it on my own using WordPress, but I guess I wasn't so good at WordPress. So I was going to get someone else to build it for me, and they wanted, like, $3,000. And I just said forget it. And I sort of put the idea on hold until a few weeks later, a friend of mine who had a sister who's a masseuse reached out to me in an email. She said in the email, “Listen, I'm a masseuse, I'm not technical at all, but I need, like, a one-page website that says, 'Hey, these are the massages I offer, here's my calendar, let people book me and pay for it all from one place.' Does such technology exist?” So my friend forwarded me her email and said, “Hey.
**Nachum Kligman [00:04:24]:**
You're into technology. Do you know anything about this? Does anything like this exist?” And that's when the light bulb went off. I said, wait a second. If I, as a business coach, have this need, and here's a masseuse that has this need, with the gig economy taking off, people getting into the service industry, people that are looking to earn extra income, I said, I bet there's a need for an easy-to-use software that makes it simple for people to go online and start selling services, you know, in under an hour. And so I took my idea and I pitched it to a good friend of mine named David, who I worked with previously on a couple other projects, and he loved the idea. And since then, we started building it, launching in I think it was, like, May 2017. So it's been about eight years since we launched, and it's been an incredible ride since then. And we've always looked at ways to give back to our users, to help them grow their businesses.
**Nachum Kligman [00:05:19]:**
And, you know, it's funny because I started off podcasting, and that led to Book Like a Boss. And now I want to get back into podcasting. I love the idea of helping people, being able to help lots of people with one, you know, one recording. And so that's what this podcast is going to be about. Looking for ways to help you grow your business, market your business, build your business, add on to your business, make more money with your business, and, of course, get booked like a boss. So join us, follow, subscribe, share, and live life and enjoy. And I look forward to getting to the first interviewed episode.
